Event results are no longer directly calculated from the winner and are now based on your position relative to the average of the field providing a more stable reference point.
event result = constant + multiplier * (your score - average score) / st deviation.
This being the case there is the possibility of negative scores and scores over 100 that were previously not possible. The constant and multiplier have been currently set as 60 and 20 to minimize this from happening while still providing a spread of results.

The handicap system has also been revised for this year with a much larger back catalogue of result taken into account (where available) with the middle 26 of the last 30 results used. The larger sample provides a more stable indicator of typical performance smoothing out impacts of injuries, xmas pudding, getting lost occasionally or the stellar run, along with rewarding continued improvement.
Handicap = (your points - average points) / st deviation
With the average of the middle 26 values of 30 events taken as the handicap. Where 26/30 events are not available the ratio is adjusted for the number of events available. Note only the last 3 seasons (51 events) have been transferred across and we will build from there going forward.
Handicap result for the event = constant + multiplier * [{(your points - average points) / st deviation} - handicap]
Constant and multiplier currently set as 75 and 15. Simply put if your handicap score is over 75 you have done better than normal, if less than 75 then not as good as normal.
