Newcastle orienteers in National Non-elite Rankings
Orienteering Australia has published its annual National Non-elite Rankings for 2025, with six Newcastle club members ranked in the top three in their age class (elites have a separate ranking system based on National League results).
Jenny Enderby ranked first in W55 for 2025. Stephen Craig ranked second in M55. Lucy Jenkins (W10), Baxter Peel (M14), Justin Stafford (M40) and Martina Craig (W55) ranked third in their age class.
Ranking points are awarded for each A class championship event completed that had at least four starters, with 100 points awarded for first place and lesser points for other competitors. The 2025 rankings were determined by an orienteer's best three results from the races in the Easter 3-Days Championships held in Victoria and the Australian Championships Long, Middle & Sprint races held around Brisbane.
Other Newcastle orienteers making the Top 10 list with more than 50 points in their respective age class were: W10 - 5. Hayley Jenkins; W14 - 10. Isobel Newton; W60 - 4. Carolyn Matthews, 5. Gayle Quantock; M55 - 5. Scott Simson; M65 - 4. Robert Vincent; M75 - 5. Jim Lee.
