IOF logo The International Orienteering Federation has introduced four new map   symbols. The new symbols were added in February and become mandatory   from 1 January 2025. The new symbols are:         

  - New course symbol for the start of a continuing course after a map flip/map exchange
  - Retaining earth wall
  - Area with obstacles (Sprint maps only)
  - Dangerous pit (Forest maps only. Note the current Rocky Pit symbol (black V) still exists).
