Welcome to Newcastle Orienteering Club

Orienteering is a competitive or non-competitive recreational activity in which participants use a detailed map (and usually a compass) to navigate between checkpoints (known as “controls”) along an unfamiliar course. If you like a mental and physical challenge and exploring the outdoors, orienteering is the sport for you!

Venue: Myuna Bay Foreshore (Southern end of dirt road on the eastern side of Myuna Bay Sport and Recreation Camp)
Times: 9:30am to 12:30am
Courses: This activity will involve walking with an instructor and learning how to use a map to find your way around a course. Note: Denis Lyons will be involved with participants from the Festival of Sport so if club members wanted to use this structure to introduce family or friends to the sport then it would be best if they acted as the instructor for their group. Cost: $2 per person to cover map preparation.
