Welcome to Newcastle Orienteering Club

Orienteering is a competitive or non-competitive recreational activity in which participants use a detailed map (and usually a compass) to navigate between checkpoints (known as “controls”) along an unfamiliar course. If you like a mental and physical challenge and exploring the outdoors, orienteering is the sport for you!

Bush Season finale

Event: Minor (Training)
Location: Wakefield
Map: The Farm 1:7500
Planner/Organiser: Bob/Pam Montgomery
Weather: Overcast, cool
Entrants: 41

The Farm was the location of our last bush event for this season and it hosted a smaller but no less enthusiastic number of participants. Bob and Pam Montgomery provided six interesting courses on the smaller (1:7500) mapped area. Steven Todkill was a comfortable winner on the long red with Peter Charlton continuing his recent good form filling in second placing. Sam Howe finished off a great debut bush season taking out the Short Red from Central Coast 'visitor' Julia Prudhoe who placed second.

This event concluded a successful bush season for the club and I’d like to thank all involved in the running of each event, be it planning, setup, rego, control collecting or any other aspect. Without your generosity we wouldn’t be the biggest NSW club with the largest and most varied event calendar.
