Welcome to Newcastle Orienteering Club

Orienteering is a competitive or non-competitive recreational activity in which participants use a detailed map (and usually a compass) to navigate between checkpoints (known as “controls”) along an unfamiliar course. If you like a mental and physical challenge and exploring the outdoors, orienteering is the sport for you!

 Hunter Valley Championships 2023

The 2023 Hunter Valley Championships will be held in conjunction with NOY 8 on 24 September 2023.

Available Championships classes are listed in the Age / Course / Class matrix below.

To be official in the Championships results you must enter a class that is an option in the row for your age group (this is the age you are turning in 2023).

The class in bold is the suggested class for your age group should you be running an “A” class.

Open classes can be entered by any age group. AS classes are “Short” classes. AX are “Extra short” classes.

You can enter any course regardless of your age but you will be "Unofficial" in the Championships results if the course is not an option for your age group.

All results for each course will also be counted in the 2023 Newcastle Orienteer of the Year pointscore.
