As you are all aware COVID-19 still exists in Australia and is impacting on many facets of daily life including sporting activities. Orienteering has been impacted.

We are planning to start a Bush series event on Sunday 19 July, but there will be some changes to the structure of the event, particularly for registration and results.

Phone number, postal address and e-mail address and SI stick details in Eventor

Please make sure that you have listed your phone number, postal address, e-mail address and SI Stick details in your Eventor details, ensuring that the SI stick that you will be using at the Event is listed. Go to https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events

This will be critical for tracing in the case of infection.

You may NOT be able to compete if these details are not listed.

Pre-Enter via Eventor

All competitors should pre-enter via Eventor. This reduces the amount of contact with items at the Event. Your pre-entry will also take the place of the waiver for the land owners.

Pre-registration

There will be no grey slips to fill in as your pre-entry will register you as a competitor.

Please collect your map and Control Descriptions from the recepticals provided near the Start area or Start Desk.

Hire sticks

If you require an SI stick (as part of your Pre-entry) you will take one from the container yourself at the Start Desk and a volunteer will note the number.

No start time will be allocated.

You will start yourself.

Dip your SI stick into an additional SI unit so we know that you are out on a Course. A designated person will record that you have started.

When starting please adhere to the recommended social distance of 1.5 metres between yourself and other competitors and any volunteers that may be there to assist.

On completion of your course

Please download at the finish computer after you have finished your Course (as normal).

You will receive a splits printout but there will be no results blocks or Results Board. Results will be published as soon as possible in Eventor with links posted on the Newcastle Orienteering webpage and Facebook.
Hired SI sticks should be dropped in the designated bucket at the Finish Desk.

There will be no key bucket and no water.

There will be a Key Board available for Competitors to hang your car keys.
Please bring your own water.
Please bring your own hand sanitiser for use before and after the event.

Please do not attend:

  • If you are feeling unwell.
  • If you have been in close contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19 until the 14 days isolation period is over.
  • If you have travelled in or near a Covid19 hotspot in the past 14 days.

For more information please see the information on the Orienteering NSW website https://www.onsw.asn.au/

More information about the next event will be provided and updated as additional information becomes available.
