Start window: 6.15pm is first start subject to being dark enough – last start 7.30pm
Course closure: 8.30pm, please return to the finish by this time even if you have not finished your course as controls will be collected from this time.
Assembly area: Rathmines Park, Playground northeast of 1st Rathmines Scouts Hall, Stilling Street. Look out for the Orienteering flag and the portable light at the assembly point.
There are toilets in the park but there is no guarantee that they will be open.
Courses: There will be two line courses available, a short course 2.4 km with 18 controls and a long course 4.1 km with 24 controls, both of which will involve running in a park, and for the long course only, some bush running as well.
There won’t be a mini course, but parents could shadow children on the short course as an alternative.
Control descriptions (symbols) are on the map. There will not be any loose control descriptions available. If you require a copy or English descriptions, please print your own from the listed PDF documents on Eventor.
The controls will be marked by an orienteering flag. There will be no reflectors on the controls.
Please note that there is a taped off area to the west of the assembly area which is marked as out of bounds on the map. DO NOT CROSS THIS AREA.
The long course will involve crossing of Dorrington Road leading into Rathmines Park. Please take care and look for cars before crossing. Give way to all vehicles.
Don’t forget you will need your own headlamp or torch and mosquito repellent.
