Welcome to Newcastle Orienteering

Do you like a challenge, fresh air, and exploring the countryside and your surroundings: Orienteering could be the sport for you!

Orienteering involves using a detailed map and usually a compass to navigate one's way round a course with designated control points (check points), which are drawn on the map. The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests. This will be either on foot or on a bike.

Events are conducted nearly every week in the year, taking place in either the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Cessnock and Maitland areas. Beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Interested in entering an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ on the ONSW webite.
