A good transition from St-O to the upcoming Newcastle Park Orienteering series.

OR

Fastest time wins. Optimum route is around 3.9km.

The course is a combination of park and adjoining streets and a couple of small bush areas.

Perfect warm up for the upcoming 2017 Newcastle Park Orienteering series.

Also a good introduction for anyone new to orienteering. Bring a friend.

(Or if you are wanting "pram friendly" you may want to do the Score section only which is generally pram friendly. 16 controls ~ 5-6km.).

Note: Electronic punching at all controls (no clue sheets!)

The club is kindly donating profits from this event to support Claire Burgess on her "World Challenge Expedition" to Nepal in 2018.

P Cards and SI Sticks will also be available for sale.

Important Note: Newcastle Orienteering recommends that all competitors wear bright clothing or reflective gear throughout the season to enable drivers to see you especially if you are running near dusk. Please also take care when crossing roads and use recommended crossing points on busy roads. We also wish to remind competitors that listening to an ipod (or similar) while on course can be a distraction that may cause you to not hear an emergency warning or similar and as such are not allowed during these events for your safety.

Summer Street Series Event 1

Update: Results are now available. Many thanks to Steven Todkill for jumping in to help out in a time of need and what felt like total confusion. Also I have added the link to the routegadget file for the warmup for those wanting to see that one as well. There are a few unnamed GPS tracks on routgadget and for some staying anonomous might be preferable but if you are having trouble adding your run (either GPA or manual) please contact either This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for some help. Alternatively check out this video from 5:58 for drawing your route or 9:46 for uploading your GPS - VIDEO (Unfortunately there is no sound)

Note: Due to the change over of scoring collator for this season results for this event may not be up until Friday. We will endeavour to get them up earlier so check back. Summer Street Series Event 2

Results - RESULTS ARE UP. Routegadget is up. Result may be delayed again as we need to process Week 1 again due to a missed result. On a related note please ensure you hang your block with the grey slip on the results board once you have been given a time and a score. Scores are currently not collated until these are collected at the end of the event. So no grey slip - no score! The responsibility for this has always been the competitors.
