Note: Today is the final day for online entry (15th April)

May 12 / 13 is a huge weekend for our club. A World Ranking Event on the Sunday, three separate selection trials for the Australian World Championships Team competing in Switzerland later in the year, three NOL races for junior and senior elite Orienteers and not forgetting the public in general, NSW SL events 3 / 4 / 5 have been thrown in for good measure.

Volunteers have already been hard at work for a significant amount of time. Mappers, course setters, event controllers, the event website. But the reality is we still need more assistance.

We need volunteers to set up / pack up the three events, parking officials, finish officials, results board attendants, control patrol (Saturday afternoon) and control collectors for each of the three events. The great news is you don’t have to sacrifice your run to make a valuable contribution for the weekend, other than the decision to patrol controls at Pelaw Main Saturday afternoon. If you are able to assist as a volunteer but still wish to compete we will accommodate your wishes. So go ahead and enter now if you haven’t already done so - entries close April 15.

To volunteer to assist, please contact Russell Blatchford (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Shane Jenkins (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Indicate when you are available, whether you have a preference for a duty and whether you are intending to compete. Newcastle is a big club, a fine club, with a well deserved reputation for presenting the finest of Orienteering events. With your assistance we can rise to the occasion yet again.

Please consider volunteering for the ‘Coalfields Classic’.
