Welcome to Newcastle Orienteering Club

Orienteering is a competitive or non-competitive recreational activity in which participants use a detailed map (and usually a compass) to navigate between checkpoints (known as “controls”) along an unfamiliar course. If you like a mental and physical challenge and exploring the outdoors, orienteering is the sport for you!

It's Blatchford again

Event: Newcastle Park Tour2 – Final
Location: Walka Water Works (Maitland)
Entries: 70
Weather: Overcast - getting dark quickly

Seems he's unstoppable at the moment. Josh Blatchford has added the 2008 Newcastle Park Tour title to his ever expanding list of victories. Steven Todkill was once again unlucky, having won all 3 qualifying rounds (and perhaps the minor premiership) but losing when it counted in the final. Perhaps he was a little off peak after his weekend triathlon or maybe his late start and the growing darkness added to his time on course.

Josh's Mother & sister also performed well, with Karen best of the A women (9th outright) and sister Nicola taking out the Short course outright.
Stuart Kurtz had a fine run in winning B grade. (See full results link below)

This has been a great series, well attended with excellent maps and courses. Thanks to all our mappers and course setters and to Malcolm Roberts for overall series co-ordination.

We hope to run this series again next year as it's popularity certainly warrants it.
