Welcome to Newcastle Orienteering Club

Orienteering is a competitive or non-competitive recreational activity in which participants use a detailed map (and usually a compass) to navigate between checkpoints (known as “controls”) along an unfamiliar course. If you like a mental and physical challenge and exploring the outdoors, orienteering is the sport for you!

Run or walk, compete against yourself or others, or a fun family day out. Classic "forest" orienteering for all in the great outdoors. (Mar-Sept)

A great introduction to orienteering with fun courses in suburban parks & reserves. Also includes a night event. (Feb-Mar)

Navigate around bush tracks and trails on your mountain bike. The BOSS series offers 75 minute score & line+score events. (Oct-Mar)

Series kick-off at Speers Point

The inaugural "Newcastle Park Tour" commenced this evening with a bang....a thunderclap!
Torential rain greated early arrivals and greatly reduced competitor turnout. Those that did turn up were eventually treated to pretty good running conditions coupled with two great courses set by "local", Geoff Todkill. Swede newcomer, Joakim Lindholme, set the early pace but has to settle for 4th place in the long course. Stu Adams carried his impressive street series form over to take another club event victory. He was closly followed by "veteran" Rob Vincent and junior Josh Blatchford who is starting to make an impact in the top level. Young Alex Massey took the honours in the short division, pipping out first woman, Margaret Peel.
