QB3 and NSW Sprint Champs wrap.

The concluding day of the Queens Birthday 3 day event (which is also the NSW Sprint Championships) was contested in the grounds of Newcastle University. This area has to be one of the best urban sprint maps in NSW with many buildings in a beautiful treed setting. Expect more events here in the future.

Julian Dent once again dominated only conceding 2 splits to his opposition taking both the sprint champs and overall QB3 titles. The women’s race was a tighter affair with Felicity Brown taking the lead from Shannon Jones a third of the way into the course. She managed to hold on for a few legs but Shannon once again showed her class taking the lead and extending it to a 59 second winning margin. Shannon also took out the overall QB3 title as well.

Organising club, Newcastle were extremely happy with competitor numbers, the friendly but competitive atmosphere and also the weather, which was very obliging. It’s quite a big workload, one club running 3-days of events, but we are a big club and all Newcastle members dipped in to assist in some way. I sincerely thank them for their dedication to our terrific sport.

Don’t forget to check out the results, splits, maps and photos on the QB3 page.
