First time setters at Freemans
The Roberts family (that’s the Wangi ones) took up the challenge of course setting and teamed up with Denis Lyons to produce some fun orienteering at Freemans Waterhole. Youngsters Angus and Callum produced the Blue and Green courses, their dad Steven the Orange courses while Denis Lyons chipped in with the Red’s. Steven made the comment that while there is a lot of work in setting courses he felt it would improve his performances in later events due to a greater appreciation of what goes into setting and the actual control placement process itself.
While the weather looked very threatening it didn’t actually amount to much during the event but did conspire, along with the Paddy Pallin Rogaine in the Blue Mountains, to rob us of many competitors on the day. Still a healthy number of participants turned out to get their regular fix of orienteering.
