Setter's Report: A magic winters day greeted competitors at Pelaw Main for the 5th instalment of this years NOY series, a far cry from the downpour that Denis and I experienced during control placement on Saturday. This good weather brought out 100 entires with a number of first timers and the feedback was positive. The terrain is quite flat which prompted a slightly longer hard long course than usual but evergreen Rob Vincent still managed 48:37 for the 7.4 km course. There were plenty of reports of people thinking they were going well before getting unstuck on some of the more vague, flat legs or in some of the confusing track networks.
I would like to thank Denis Lyons for vetting, organising, control placement and collection and for generally imparting some of his extensive knowledge onto a somewhat inexperienced setter. Other thanks need to go to Rudi Landsiedel for running the SI system and control collection, Sam Howe and Neil Curryer for control collection, Joy Guy and Maria Orr on the start desk and Nicole Haigh for pitching in at the finish to name a few.
